A daily newspaper started by Ringier in the year 1996 was vesti dana blic. The headquarters of vesti dana blic or formerly called as blic is located in the Belgrade, Serbia. The newspaper covers a wide range of information and news in politics, economics, healthcare, entertainment, classifieds, culture, leisure, automobiles, and sports. The blic is a very popular read and is highly appreciated for its accurate and eye grabbing news from all over the world. The circulations of the blic have reached the number 2, 20,000 in today's time. The present chief executive officer at blic is Jelena Drakulic. The history of vesti dana blic is quite a dramatic one. When it was first launched in Serbia it became the tenth daily journal and newspaper published in the year 1996. The other nine popular newspapers at that time were politika, dnevnik, norodne novine, and borba and dnevni telegraf. The structure of blic at that time was really murky. It was then managed by a company called blic press that was registered in Belgrade.
During the first issues of the blic around fifty thousand copies of the blic were sold per day. The price of each copy of blic at that time was only one dinar. To increase the number of circulations of its copies the blic advertised competition in which the prize was a grand Volkswagen Polo car and also a DM30, 000 cars. In greed of these grand prizes the number of copies sold increased by a margin of thirty percent within a few weeks. In the year 1997 in Serbia there were major street protests during the local election of municipal bodies. It was only blic newspaper that covered the whole incidents that published the pictures and public opinions in its newspaper. This caused a rapid growth in the sale of the blic newspapers. About 200,000 copies were sold on each day.
Recently in the year 2006 the blic claimed in its newspaper that dejan simic the vice governor of the national bank of Serbia had been caught taking a bribe of about hundred thousand pounds. This news created a huge rise in the copies sold per day. However the story claimed by the blic was completely different from the version of the police and government authorities of the Serbia. The other news like that of Ratko knezevic's interview covered by the journalist named nenad jacimovic also created a storm wave of controversies in the entire nation and blic sold millions of copies.
